Looking after your breasts

How to perform a breast exam by yourself.

Examining your breasts monthly is important for the early detection of lumps associated with breast cancer. Performing a breast self examination is simple and needs no extra equipment to be purchased or used.

Following the steps in this video is simple whether you check yourself standing or, for larger breasted women, when laying down. The best time to do this is a few days after your period when your breasts are no longer tender.

With breast self exams, if you feel any change or feel lumps in your breast which have changed or are very hard, visit your doctor.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the UK there are additional resources made available for every woman to get a breast health check up.
